Trump, right wing media, and Christian Nationalism, have taken a scared population, fed them lies, until those lies have become the only truth they can see.

Hitler did the same. Stalin did the same. Mao did the same. Pol Pot did the same. Religion does the same.

We are on the road to perpetual self-destruction. All based on lies, because we are afraid to be vulnerable. Vulnerable to the possibility that the narrative we have created for ourselves about so many things, might not be true. The greatest of which is that of our mortality, and what happens when we die. We are afraid to admit that we're terrified of dying. We are afraid to admit that we actually don't know the answers. We are afraid that one day, just like the moment before we were born, we will be no more, extinguished from existence.

I think, that instead of fearing this, we should embrace it. Imagine if everyone carried the same truth, that this was the only life they lived, just like every other human alive. How much more precious would we treat the precarious nature of our existence, And perhaps have a bit of empathy for the plight of those around us, even those we dislike the most. For they too, in not so short a time, will meet the exact same fate as ourselves. Non-existence.

Is it really such a horrible thought? Not for me. I don't remember being out of sort, uncomfortable or terrified before I came into this world. I suppose the same will be so when I leave it.
