Thankful to say my cystoscopy & hydrodistention surgery to treat my interstitial cystitis, chronic painful bladder syndrome, went very well. I’m currently home resting under the care of my parents and being snuggled by my sweet kitty. I receive this procedure every 6-12 months 🤍

My journey with IC started in childhood, having terrible pelvic pain which my family, doctors, & myself thought it was gastric. In my teens I kept have UTI symptoms but was only given antibiotics & was never sent to a specialist. 8 years ago is when I was diagnosed with IC by that time my bladder was described as looking like bloody meatloaf.. My IC became unbearably bad during that time where I couldn’t control my bladder functions; often wetting myself or sitting on the toilet for long periods of time trying to get myself to pee but my bladder would not release the urine and when it did I often passed out from the pain. At this time I was disabled by this horrid condition; couldn’t walk without assistance, needing help bathing, had to be forced to eat… I often wished that when I fell asleep I wouldn’t wake back up due to the severity of pain. So very thankful that I have an incredible medical team who works so hard for me, are my advocates and family. Also very thankful for my family & friends who provide me with so much support. I don’t know where I would be without all of you 🙏🏼

About IC:

࿐ Terribly painful chronic condition causing bladder pressure, bladder pain & pelvic pain. Pain in your pelvis or between the vagina & anus in women. Pain between the scrotum and anus in men. Urgent need to urinate. Frequent urination, often of small amounts, throughout the day and night (up to 60 times a day). Pain or discomfort while the bladder fills and relief after urinating. Pain during sexual intercourse.

࿐ The exact cause of IC isn't known, but it's likely that many factors contribute. Defect in the protective lining of the bladder. A leak in the lining may allow toxic substances in urine to irritate your bladder wall. Other possibilities are an autoimmune reaction, heredity, infection or allergy.

I’ll share more information on posts to come 🤍 Thank you again my tribe, love you! @taylor_munholland
