🌶 TI-TEA TUESDAY TEA REVIEW:
Today I tried Zest Sparkling Tea and to my surprise I did not love it...🥴
Okay let’s rewind and start with this fact: I am fan of Zest Tea.
I first discovered this tea when I was deep in bar study mode. I took a break and went to a food festival and discovered this Baltimore-born brand that promised to be high caffeine, big energy but without the jitters or the crash.
Like the caffeine fiend I am, I bought a bag of Zest pomegranate mojito tea bags immediately! And I liked it! Fruity! Easy to drink! Perfect for studying.
The other day at #WholeFoods I noticed Zest had some canned teas in the cold section. As I prepare to go back into school mode I figured I should test out their premade tea and see if I needed to stock my fridge with some ready to drink Zest... turns out, I need not.
Flavor profile: too sweet, nice bubble
Drinkability: i hate the taste of stevia, so low drinkability for me
Notable: the ingredients have cane sugar AND stevia. Usually stevia is there so you don’t have to add sugar. I don’t love that.
A Zest Tea can has 12g of sugar aka a little under 3 teaspoons of sugar and about 24% of your daily value. That’s a quite high for your DV but of course It depends on your diet.
(Reminder: recommended daily value of sugar is 6 teaspoons for women and 9 for men.)
I don’t love this sparkling canned tea. The ingredients don’t spark joy, the sugar is too high (for me) and I really don’t like the taste of stevia.
What this tea does have is L-Theanine, a fabulous amino acid that increases focus and helps the body deal with stress. Amazing for studying or intense work.
I wouldn’t buy this canned tea again because it’s not the healthiest option for me
Note: if you don’t mind stevia, this tea is probably fine
I would, however, buy the loose leaf or bagged tea so I could get the benefits of high energy tea while also managing my sugar and ingredients.
