I love my parents beyond words & so thankful to have them in my life. They are two of my best friends, loves of my life, & I cherish them deeply. We’ve had a rocky few months; my mama suffering from health ailments & my daddy’s struggle whether to retire or not as a federal employee along with suffering from his own health ailments. My mama is currently recovering from surgery & did such an amazing job; I could not be more proud of her! Though I have made a decree that no one in our family can have surgeries besides me for now on because it’s too overwhelmingly stressful (as my family rolls their eyes with my 23rd procedure coming up.) My mama is an incredible chronic warrior & advocate. She is one of the most strong, empathetic, loving, & kind people I know. My daddy I’m so happy he retired. The overwhelming stress & disrespect of the current administration was making his life a living hell. I’m so proud of him for being such an amazing provider, rock of our family, & my goofball partner in crime. I’m hoping with his retirement he can now focus on his health & what brings him joy. They both often blame their genetics for me being ill but they have shown me that no matter what we don’t give up.

We have had a lot of ups & downs over the years. The loss of my older sister was earth shattering but we continue to make it through as we share our grief. I know that many separate when great loss occurs, I’m filled with gratitude that we have remained close despite the pain.

Even though we have our challenging moments I cannot imagine my life without them. As I’ve gotten older I have come to realize how much they have given me & sacrificed for me to have the best life possible. They have always supported, encouraged, & celebrated me as an artist & free spirit. They have always advocated, provided aid, assistance, and caregiving with my chronic health. They have never once shamed me & have always created a safe space for me. They have never once questioned my lifestyle; instead always emphasizing for me to be myself. I’m beyond lucky to be loved & supported so unconditionally. Love you mommy & daddy โค๏ธ
