While in my home state of Oklahoma I went to visit Robbers Cave State Park to get in a little hiking & playing on rocks 🫶🏼🪨 While hiking a family came up to me asking for directions. I noticed they had very distinct French accents & not the best English (which right on, my French is made of ballet positions & “Qui” 🥴). I asked them what they were doing here in Oklahoma; the father exclaimed excitedly “Jeux olympiques”. Okay makes sense, France has to be super crowded right now… “But why Oklahoma of all places?”, they all just smiled & went on their way. Now I’m a Okie, so I feel I’m allowed to say this with no hate towards my state but your French & your coming all the way from France to the United States (around 4,900 miles give or take) & you choose Oklahoma at Robbers Cave State Park in Latimer County. HOW THE ENFER aka hell (add another French word to my built) did they even find this place?! 🤣 I mean of all places to go hiking in the United States & you choose Oklahoma?!

I later researched that this State Park dates back to its use as an Osage hunting ground & was the object of French exploration in the eighteenth century… so making a little more sense, getting some history in there.

I just imagine their kiddos one day looking back on this trip & saying “maman et papa, thank you for flying us all the way to the USA to learn about French trappers ward off competition in the eighteenth century vs taking us to Disney Land” 🤌🏼😂

Again proud Okie. 6th generation. Love for my state… besides the politics & it’s hard to find good sushi… but hey all states have their issues. But each state has their own great vibes. My parents brought me up, I had a fantastic childhood through college experience, & I always love visiting home. I think I grew up okay, if I can say so myself haha. We got 1996 original Twister, Oklahoma the musical, Osage County, Killers Of The Flower Moon, our very own Olympian Shannon Miller. I love my home state! But still makes me wonder, WHY THE HELL FRENCH PEOPLE ARE YOU COMING HERE FOR YOUR VACAY?!?! 🤠🇫🇷🥖🇺🇸🥾
