My happy place ๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒฒโœŒ๐Ÿผ

Full disclosure: the 1st shot my friend asked me to stop so she could take a pic of me basking in the glorious light of the sun on my face. I ended up dramatically imitating the Wicked Witch of the West “MY MELASMAAAAAA. OHHHHH WHAT A WORLD, WHAT A WORLD!!!” For those who are reading this & have no idea what I’m talking about: melasma is a skin condition where dark patches or spots form on the face, often due to hormones. Mine started after the Lupron injections wore off (treatment for my anemia & endometriosis; placing me in a chemically induced menopausal state for 5 yrs). Now if you got that but not the Wicked Witch reference then you’ve missed cinematic history that was revolutionary & I don’t know if I can be friends with you anymore.

The 2nd shot was me trying to wash really sticky sap from a tree off my fingers that did NOT want to come off. I was then wowed by how my spine looked in the shot & imagined myself as mutant super villain or dinosaur where large needles were to come out of each vertebra. Yes, that’s where my mind goes to ๐Ÿ˜‚

I’m sharing all this because when I’m scrolling through posts & looking at @rrawimpact tags/collabs, I often think “Look at all these incredible moments in & with nature”. Then I pause & wonder what was really happening in that moment + the moments before & after. I laugh scrolling through my own feed where my mind & spirit weren’t serenely chillin in the bliss of nature as it would appear. So many moments of “fuck I think I just swallowed a bug” or “fuck it’s so hot my vagina is sweating” or “fuck it’s so cold my nipples are going to freeze off if I don’t put some damn clothes on” ๐Ÿ˜… ALL the candid moments that haven’t been captured in the shot, which can share an entirely different story than what is being shown on social media.

So little glimpse of what was really going on when these shots were taken. Plus now knowing when I look at your posts I may be wondering what memories you have stored from that moment & the moments surrounding.

Stay curious. Play more. Stop comparing your life to others. Capture less pictures/videos. Create more memories. Share your stories ๐ŸคŸ๐Ÿผโค๏ธ
